Ethiopian Commodity Exchange to Trade Sesame, Pea Beans
October 1, 2010 — The Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) will start trading sesame and pea bean beginning early October, reports Capital. The management team and staff of ECX and the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange Authority (ECEA), which control the trading, have been lobbying producers and suppliers throughout the potential production areas for the past three months.
The exchange has opened new facilities including warehouses in the major areas of production to facilitate collection and to accelerate trading. However, the exchange which had launched sesame trading in May 2009 has not fully managed the seed trading as it has coffee.
